The unmissable and indispensable Service-Public.fr site has benefited from a major overhaul, with a clearer and more personalized interface. Objective: to simplify online administrative procedures for all users.
Initiated several years ago, the process of digital transformation of the public sector has been accelerated by the pandemic. With the impossibility of traveling to ask for help to carry out administrative procedures and to have paper files processed, we had to review our way of operating and the way in which the administrations are structured. It is valid for Service-Public.fr, the remote counter for administrative information and access to online procedures. In particular, the site offers users access to information that is useful to them to know their rights and carry out their procedures. The site is essential to the population residing in France, as demonstrated by the 500 million visits in 2021 and the 6.6 million online procedures carried out.
To be even more accessible to the population – including people who speak French badly or who are not very comfortable with computers – the site has undergone a total overhaul and now offers its new version in order to “to make administrative procedures a simple and rapid action.” As a result, the interface is more modern and minimalist, in order to allow easier navigation and more personalized practice sheets.
Service-public.fr: a clearer and more intuitive interface
The first obvious change is certainly the ergonomics of the site, which is much clearer, more airy and minimalist, with the aim of helping users to navigate more easily, but also to find the administrative information, procedures and tools they need. need. The home page of the site immediately presents life events – “I’m moving”, “I’m expecting a child”, “I’m looking for a job”, “I’m preparing for my retirement” – as well as information sheets most read practices, news and procedures and tools – like a simulator to calculate the cost of your car registration document.
All these categories are found thanks to a horizontal bar at the very top, with the tabs “News”, “How to do if?”, “Practical sheets by theme”, “Procedures and tools”, “Administration directory” and ” A question ?” For greater readability and ease of access, the online procedures are accompanied by pictograms, and the practical sheets are classified by theme. Note that everything has been redone to match the design codes of French government sites, in order to provide users with points of reference.
A navigation adapted to everyone
All the practical sheets have been revised and redone in order to offer more clarity, but also better personalization according to the profile of the user. Thus, the answers appear in the form of lists or menus in order to search precisely for the answer. Each approach is detailed point by point, and integrated questionnaires make it possible to offer the most personalized response possible.
In order to make the site accessible to all users, the Service-Public.fr site complies as much as possible with the criteria of the general reference framework for improving accessibility – RGAA. For example, the Internet user can navigate with a screen reader or Braille pages, customize the display of the site according to his needs – magnification of characters, modification of colors, etc. – but also navigate without using your mouse, with the keyboard only or via a touch screen for example. All the pages are translated into English via a small drop-down menu – which allows you to choose the language – at the top of each page, and all the files are available in audio thanks to the “listen to the page” function. Finally, for those who do not find their way around, the site still offers the possibility of asking a question by messaging and, for certain topics, a telephone callback service by a specialized informant.
