According to the White House press release, Biden has instructed the Pentagon to evaluate and change the presence of armed forces in the region as needed. The purpose is to strengthen US military deterrence and the country’s goals in the Middle East.
Biden also ordered embassies located in the region to take the necessary protective measures.
The United States has previously said that it did not receive advance information about Israel’s attacks on Beirut on Friday.
