The US issued a similar warning to Israel last April.
Israel’s biggest supporter, the United States, on Sunday gave Israel 30 days to improve the aid situation in the Gaza Strip, i.e. to allow more food shipments, medicine and vaccines into the region than at present.
If the situation is not rectified within this time, US arms aid to Israel may be in jeopardy.
The US issued a similar warning to Israel last April. At that time, the threat worked: Israel allowed 300 to 400 aid trucks to enter the area every day.
The United States now considers that blackmailing with armed aid is again necessary, because according to American officials, Israel has let even less than half of the aid trucks into the region compared to before.
The minimum requirement is 350 aid trucks per day
The US demands that at least 350 aid trucks per day enter Gaza through all four border crossings.
News channel According to CNN Israel must also open the Fifth Border Crossing and hold pauses in its military operations for at least four months, which will enable the safe delivery of aid.
– We know that delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza is possible and that logistical and bureaucratic problems can be overcome. This is the task of the Israeli administration, a spokesperson for the US State Department Matthew Miller said on Tuesday.
At the same time, the US also promised to send troops and the THAAD missile defense system to Israel.
Israel has stepped up its military operations in northern Gaza in recent weeks and urged civilians to move to the southern parts of the Gaza Strip. From there, where more than a million inhabitants of the Palestinian territory have already sought protection from the war.
The UN food program warned again over the weekend that the war has catastrophic consequences for food security.
In an interview with Chinese CCTV, residents of Gaza talk about the dire situation.
– The whole world demands an end to hunger, but we struggle with it every single day. The situation is getting worse. As the Israeli army tightened its operations in the north, the famine worsened. We too had to flee to Gaza City, said Walid.
– I’m still hungry now. The last time I ate a tomato or any vegetables at all was eight months ago. I don’t even remember what they tasted like, he said on his own Fahd.
The UN children’s organization Unicef said on Tuesday that the situation in Gaza is the worst since the war started a little over a year ago.
In the war between Israel and Hamas, the extremist organization that ruled Gaza, large areas in Gaza have been destroyed.
According to the Unicef spokesperson, Israel released the least amount of humanitarian aid to Gaza in August. According to Unicef, several days pass in between when aid trucks are not allowed into the Gaza Strip.
CNN interprets that Israel has already responded to the US demand, at least indirectly. The authority responsible for the coordination of Gaza aid published pictures of aid transports going to Gaza on social media at the beginning of the week and wrote that “Israel does not prevent the export of humanitarian aid to Gaza”.
