The United States carried out retaliatory strikes Iran Iraq

President Joe Biden has made it clear that more attacks are coming.

Iraq, Iran and Syria have condemned the US attacks on Syria and Iraq on Friday.

The US struck 85 targets used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and its allies. The attacks targeted seven locations in Syria and Iraq.

The United States responded with strikes last Sunday to a drone strike in Jordan that killed three American soldiers. The attack was carried out by armed groups supported by Iran.

US media CNN describes, that the strike on Jordan significantly increased tensions between the US and Iran-backed groups. Pro-Iranian forces have attacked US bases in the region to protest Israel’s military operations in Gaza.

The groups are believed to be funded and trained by Iran and hold the United States responsible for Israel’s actions.

President Joe Biden has made it clear that more attacks are coming. On the other hand, he reiterated that the United States is not seeking conflict in the Middle East.

Iran’s foreign ministry called the strikes a “strategic mistake” by the US, which will only increase tensions and instability in the region.

Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nasser Canaan said that the root cause of tensions and crises in the Middle East is the occupation and genocide of Palestinians by Israel with the support of the United States.

Iraq and Syria have condemned the attacks and warned that they threaten to increase instability in the Middle East. Iraqi government accused in his statement The United States for turning Iraq into a battlefield.

According to the Iraqi government, at least 16 people, some of whom were civilians, were killed in the attacks. At least 23 pro-Iranian fighters died in Syria, says the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Expert Jonathan Lord estimates that the US attacks could be described as a calculated escalation. Lord directs the Middle East Security Program at the Center for a New American Security, a think tank.

– We haven’t seen all possible attacks yet, but so far these are similar to what the United States has done in the past when its soldiers have been killed or wounded. The difference is that there are more attacks and targets, Lord assessed for the news agency Reuters.
