The United States appealed the womens permanno bronze medal decision

USA Gymnastics says it has video footage that shows a coach asked Jordan Chiles to check her score within the time limit.

USA Gymnastics has filed an appeal with the International Court of Appeals for Sports (CAS) against the decision that allowed the gymnast Jordan Chiles had to return the bronze medal she received in the women’s permanno Olympic final. The gymnastics association told about it on Sunday on their website.

The United States Gymnastics Federation says it has provided CAS with video material that would show that the head coach of the national gymnastics team Cecile Landi would have submitted his score check request within the deadline.

According to the union, it was unable to deliver the video before the CAS decision, as the material was not yet available to it at that time.

Originally Romanian Ana Barbosu was about to take bronze in the competition, but the United States called for a review of Chiles’ points. After the revision, Chiles’ points went up by a tenth, which put him in third.

The Romanian Gymnastics Federation appealed to the CAS. According to CAS, the United States submitted a request for a score review four seconds after the end of the appeal period, so the jury should not have considered the matter.

The Court of Appeal left the decision on the bronze medalist to the International Gymnastics Federation, which reinstated Chiles’ original scores, moving Barbosu back to third.

The International Gymnastics Federation left the decision to return the medal to the International Olympic Committee, which decided on Sunday that Chiles must return her medal.

Chiles has said that he received a lot of hate mail because of the situation.
