The Union is urged to make quick payments

In week 34, the waiting time was an average of nine weeks for first-time payments with the Union.

“It is unreasonable that people should wait so long for their first payment. Getting your compensation in a reasonable time is important to be able to focus on your job search,” says Cathrine Carlberg, head of the review unit at the IAF, in a press release.

Unionen’s social security fund is Sweden’s second largest in terms of membership. According to the Union, the delays are due to an unusually high staff turnover and a new case management system.

By September 18 at the latest, the Union must report on the measures that will contribute to shortening processing times.
