Armand Duplantis goes for the world record.
Now comes a new message that makes him dream.
The World Championships in Athletics are in full swing and on Wednesday, Armand Duplantis, Sweden’s greatest hope for gold, enters the competition. Mondo is actually not only Sweden’s biggest hope for gold, but perhaps the biggest favorite of everyone in the whole WC, all disciplines included.
The new dream message for Mondo
It is certainly rare for Duplantis not to win a race, and the last time he lost, in Monaco this summer, he was troubled by a cramping thigh. Now, however, Mondo is rid of the worries and says he is in great shape, and ready to jump high. Duplantis has even said he believes world record heights are possible.
And now comes news that allows Duplantis to dream even bigger. The women’s pole vault qualification became one big party with high heights. Last summer it was enough to jump 4.35 to get to the finals, but this year the qualifying limit ended up being a whopping 4.65. No other qualifier in WC history has even come close.

“Can get really loud”
And Nina Kennedy, one of the twelve who passed the qualification limit, believes she has an explanation for why the hopes were generally so high.
– It was a clear downhill. It feels like it could be really loud in the final, says Kennedy to The Age, according to Aftonbladet.
Armand Duplantis has spoken many times about the importance of a quick approach, and the downhill that appears to be in the arena in Budapest could be absolutely crucial in Duplantis’ pursuit of a new world record.
