According to reports, mass graves containing several hundred bodies have been found near the Nasser and al-Shifa hospitals.
An impartial and comprehensive investigation must be carried out immediately into the mass graves found near Gaza hospitals, the UN Security Council demanded on Friday.
According to the information, mass graves have been found in the vicinity of Nasser and al-Shifa hospitals, in which children, women and elderly people, among others, would have been buried.
The Security Council expressed deep concern about reports of mass graves. The council’s statement emphasizes that, according to reports, several hundred bodies have been found in the graves.
The member states emphasized that responsibility must be borne for all violations of international law. According to the Security Council, investigators must be given unimpeded access to areas where mass graves are suspected to be present, so that they can conduct immediate, independent, thorough, comprehensive, open and impartial investigations.
On Friday, the Security Council did not take a position on which entity would conduct the investigation. However, according to the UN, it is important that the families of the dead receive information about the fate of their missing relatives in accordance with international humanitarian law.
Israel bombed hospitals repeatedly
Israel has repeatedly bombed hospitals in the Gaza Strip over the past seven months or so. Israel has accused the extremist organization Hamas of using hospitals for its own purposes.
The World Health Organization (WHO) said in April that only an “empty shell” remained of the al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City, and several bodies had been found in the area. According to Israel, around 200 Palestinians were killed during its military operation in the area.
According to reports, bodies have been found in two different graves in the hospital area.
According to the Gazan authorities, the bodies of hundreds of Palestinians were found in the Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis. According to the authorities, Israel would have killed and buried the people in question. Israel has denied the claims.
According to the Hamas-run Gaza Ministry of Health, Israel has killed nearly 35,000 people in Gaza since the beginning of October, the majority of whom have been women and children.
