Jordan will hold a Syria summit this weekend.
Secretary General of the UN Antonio Guterres said on Thursday that it was deeply concerned about repeated violations of Syria’s state sovereignty.
Representative of the Secretary General by Stephane Dujarric According to Guterres, “hundreds of Israeli airstrikes on multiple targets in Syria” are of particular concern to Guterres.
Earlier on Thursday, Jordan announced that it would hold a summit on the situation in Syria this weekend, the country’s foreign ministry said. The meeting will be attended by representatives from Arab countries, the United States and the EU.
There are diplomats from, among others, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Lebanon, as well as Turkey. Representatives of the United States, the EU’s foreign policy representative and the UN’s special envoy for Syria will also participate in the meeting.
