The UN Secretary General condemns the Golan strike | News in brief

UN Secretary General António Guterres calls on all parties in the Middle East to “exercise extreme restraint”.

Secretary General of the UN António Guterres has on Sunday condemned the rocket attack on the Golan Heights on Saturday, which killed 12 young people.

In his statement, Guterres expresses his deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack.

– Civilians, especially children, should not bear the burden of the horrific violence plaguing the region, Guterres says in his press release.

Saturday’s attack was launched from Lebanon, but there is still no certainty as to who did it. In his statement, Guterres urges all parties in the Middle East to “exercise extreme restraint” in order to prevent the conflict from expanding.

On Sunday, Britain, France, Egypt, among others, have also expressed their concern about the expansion of the war in the Middle East.

The United States, on the other hand, has commented that it does not want the conflict to “escalate”, but at the same time emphasized that Israel has the right to defend itself.
