The world’s countries commit to protecting 30 percent of the planet’s surface by 2030 at the latest.

It is part of the rescue plan that the UN meeting in Montreal in Canada, after two weeks of hard negotiations, agreed upon early this morning Swedish time.

The Nature Conservation Society welcomes the agreement, but at the same time believes that there is now a lot for the countries’ governments to live up to.

– We should be happy that there is an agreement, but now it is required that the countries take their responsibility and implement what they have promised through this agreement, says Karin Lexén, secretary general of the Nature Conservation Association.
