UN Secretary-General António Guterres is “deeply concerned” about the Taliban’s newly imposed ban on women at universities in Afghanistan, his spokesperson says.
Guterres calls on the authorities in Afghanistan to “ensure equal access to education at all levels”.
“The Secretary-General reiterates that obstructing education not only violates the equal rights of women and girls, but will also have a devastating impact on the country’s future,” spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric said in a statement.
