Evolution was conceived as a direct sequel to the crime hit that aired on CBS in the US for 15 seasons. The transformation from a TV series to a streaming series has brought with it some changes to the concept.
The previous case-of-the-week format has been transformed into a coherent narrative with a continuous plot. The revival series is also somewhat more brutal than the original and takes a closer look at the private lives of the BAU members around David Rossi (Joe Mantegna).
