In 1864, the sci-fi adventure novel The journey to the center of the earth by the French writer Jules Verne published. The first film adaptation took until 1959 and was directed by Henry Levin. His version, which features a brand new main character, is on TV today.
Since then, the material has been remade into films numerous times. Most recently in 2008 as Journey to the Center of the Earth with Brendan Fraser in the lead role.

Geologist Professor Lindenbrook (James Mason) from the University of Edinburgh comes into possession of a volcanic stone that contains a secret message.
