The two predecessors to Baldur’s Gate 3 could soon end up in Xbox Game Pass. Players have received a notification that the two parts will soon be available in Game Pass. What’s that about it?
What’s behind it? In the stream of leaks and accidental revelations surrounding games, another revelation joins the list: Xbox Game Pass subscribers are receiving push notifications indicating that Baldur’s Gate 1 and 2 may soon be added to Game Pass.
This is not about Baldur’s Gate 3, but about the previous two parts. Larian Studios made it clear a few weeks ago that the game of the year may never be included in Game Pass.
Mysterious announcement in Xbox Game Pass
What exactly kind of notification went out? TrueAchievements reports that users with the Xbox Game Pass app received the following notification:
Customize your hero, recruit brave allies, and explore mystical realms in your search for adventure, profit…and the truth. Play Baldur’s Gate I and II with Game Pass.
So far, Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Editions have not yet been officially announced for the Xbox Game Pass and neither part has appeared in the Game Pass yet. The two parts are a remaster of the original games that were released for Xbox consoles in 2019. However, the store is currently adding unannounced titles, including the horror game Close to the Sun.
The notifications were probably accidentally sent out too early as part of a larger Xbox Game Pass announcement.
TrueAchievements said this is the second time players have received notifications about the possible availability of Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Editions on Game Pass. Players had already received a similar announcement in August 2023, but the two parts never appeared in Game Pass.
It remains to be seen whether the two parts will actually be added to Xbox Game Pass soon.
