The two brothers of the former first lady Hinda Déby Itno were released on Thursday March 24 after several months of detention, according to the collective of family lawyers. They were detained first in the general intelligence premises, then in Klessoum prison, for the purposes of the investigation into the death of Colonel Nousradine Khamis, according to the authorities. The officer died on December 8 in Ndjamena after live ammunition.

The Attorney General finally ordered the release of Ahmat Khazaly Acyl and Khoudar Acyl. The two brothers of the former first ladyHinda Déby Itno, are free to move after more than three months in detention.
They were suspected of having ordered the Death of Colonel Nusradine Khamis, shot dead on December 8th. The officer was in a dispute with one of the former first lady’s brothers over a property.
” The case is dismissed “says Me Alain Kagombé, one of the lawyers for the Acyl family. A conciliation between the two parties made it possible, he maintains, to prove the innocence of the two brothers. Mediation was also conducted by customary authorities. But no details on the arrangement between the two parties have been communicated.
This case had taken turns of vendetta in the capital Ndjamena. Immediately after the officer’s death, the house of one of the Acyl brothers had been burned down. Then it’s Souleyman Abakar Adamthe former Minister of Public Security, who had narrowly escaped an assassination attempt after claiming that the colonel had injured himself on purpose.
