The police have assessed that the man, who has long been active in a TV4 production, has likely bought sex since at least 2019. But when the police tracked him down, he could only be prosecuted for events that had not been time-barred.
There were a total of 31 charges for the purchase of sexual services, of which he admitted all but one.
But when the TV4 profile was to be served with the lawsuit, he had disappeared. Neither the district court nor the police have managed to get hold of him. In January 2025, several crimes are at risk of becoming statute-barred. The prosecutor therefore chose to recently call for the man internationally.
– We have information that he is abroad, says senior chamber prosecutor Per Svensson, without wanting to state which country it may be about.
The search for the TV4 profile is now underway worldwide. The Tax Agency has documents that may indicate that the man may have planned his escape even before the prosecution was brought.
Profile’s words: I haven’t left the country
At the end of September, the TV4 profile submitted an application to emigrate from Sweden. He deregistered from the population register and stated that he will be moving to Ireland for over a year. Later in October, the Tax Agency granted it and expelled him from Sweden.
Two days after that, the TV4 profile contacted the Tax Agency again and stated that he “repented” and wanted to register in Sweden again. He advised that he still lives at his address and never moved to Ireland.
“I have not emigrated from Sweden. I have not left the country,” wrote the TV4 profile.
The Swedish Tax Agency: No new address
The authority agreed to the revocation and registered the man at his former home address, which he had stated.
But after that, the Swedish Tax Agency has not been able to reach the TV4 profile at the address in question.
“Decision in return. Return reason: Return to sender! Moved without forwarding. No new address. Sending again,” writes the manager in a service note in November.
Nor did the Swedish Tax Agency manage to reach him during the second contact attempt later that month. “No new address found,” the report said.
A so-called notification of incorrect population registration was then drawn up against the TV4 profile.
Race against the clock: “The Urgent”
In the TV4 profile’s web history, it appeared that he had made several searches that indicated a planned escape plan.
“What happens if I don’t receive the service”, he asked, among other things.
The statute of limitations for the purchase of sex is two years. In order to completely escape prosecution and all 31 cases, he must remain in hiding until January 25, 2026, for just over another year.
The prosecutor states that they are working actively with the police hunt, but do not want to comment on what methods are being used to try to get hold of him.
The first offense is time-barred in just over two weeks, on January 8.
– It is now a matter of enforcing the arrest warrant. It is important that we get hold of him, says Per Svensson about the fight against the clock.
