They are two of Sweden’s biggest athletes.
And Armand Duplantis and Sarah Sjöström also have a close relationship besides all the competitions.
– They found each other immediately, their manager, Daniel Wessfeldt has said.
Armand Duplantis is the superstar who broke world record after world record, and who completely dominates in one of the most complex branches of athletics. Despite his young age, he has already won everything there is to win, and in this summer’s Olympics he is perhaps the biggest favorite in all of athletics to win a second gold.
Close relationship
Sarah Sjöström already broke through as a 14-year-old and has since won a somewhat improbable 91(!) medals at international championships. No European swimmer of all time has more, and there have been a total of four Olympic medals since their debut in 2016. Sjöström and Mondo Duplantis are two of Sweden’s greatest athletes – but also friends.
A few years ago, Daniel Wessfeldt, who represented them both as manager, revealed that Sjöström and Duplantis “found each other immediately”.
– I have introduced them to each other and they have eaten together a number of times in Stockholm. They found each other immediately. And I know that they follow each other on social media and are in contact, Wessfeldt told Aftonbladet.
“Enjoy each other’s company”
And that is perhaps not so surprising. Both Sjöström and Duplantis had huge breakthroughs early in life, and have since continued to dominate.
– They have a lot in common and enjoy each other’s company.
According to Daniel Wessfeldt, the stars have a lot in common.
– They are two super talents who also have the mental strength that very few have. They are unstoppable once it gets going. There is no question of getting any rubber arm in their case.
– At the same time, they are very humble, but also determined. They know where the line is. They know when to say no. And then a no is a no.
