Armand Duplantis has done it again.
Namely won a new pole vault competition.
But there was no world record this time – however, the truth about “Mondo’s” record jump earlier this year is now being revealed.
Tuesday night’s pole vault competition in Czech Ostrava was never very exciting. Armand Duplantis cleared the height of 5.82 meters in his first attempt and then had to watch competitor after competitor tear himself away.
Mondo wins again
No other jumper managed to get past the modest height and the competition was decided before it had barely even begun. After that, “Mondo” raised the bar to six meters and managed that level only in the third attempt due to tricky wind.

Duplantis also attempted the new world record height of 6.25 meters but failed in all three of his attempts. Already on Sunday, the Swedish world star will get a chance for a new record attempt during the Diamond League gala in Stockholm.
Duplanti’s record
The 24-year-old broke his first world record back in 2020 and has since raised the bar another seven times. The most recent record jump came in Xiamen, China, on April 20, when Mondo cleared 6.24 meters with plenty of air over the bar.

Afterwards, it has been revealed exactly how high Armand Duplantis actually jumped. With the help of the organizer’s technical aids, the jump has been measured to a whopping 6.29 meters, i.e. five centimeters above the world record.
– I knew it was a good jump and that I had a margin, but I never think about it afterwards. If the number is correct, it strengthens my confidence, that I know I can jump that high, and it shows that there is more to the idea, says Mondo at a press conference in the Czech Republic.
