Charlotte Baris: Saturday July 13, 2024. Donald Trump is at a meeting in Butler, Pennsylvania, in the northeast of the United States. He is preparing to speak in front of thousands of supporters. Under a blazing sun, the crowd has been waiting for him since the start of the day. 6:03 p.m., he goes on stage. He begins his speech and addresses one of his favorite subjects: immigration. 6:11 p.m., he is alone on stage. Suddenly, a noise erupts. Three detonations.
Trump, with his red cap Make America Great Againputs his hand to his right ear and leans under his desk. The Secret Service agents rush towards him, but before evacuating, the Republican candidate stands up and raises his fist towards the sky. The image is striking: Trump, standing, disheveled and with a bloody ear, brandishes his fist under the American flag flying above him. Donald Trump is making history again.
An event which is reminiscent of the assassination of President Kennedy and which places the former president alongside legendary American political families. Just like the Kennedys, who forged a dynasty, Trump wants to pass on his empire to his children. His biggest dream? Entrust them with the keys to the United States.
