More train journeys in Europe, house changes and holidays to colder destinations.
Those are the new travel trends for the new year.
– The northern countries in Europe will increase with perhaps five percent larger tourist flows, says travel director Per J Andersson.
Since before, Swedes have often traveled to warmer latitudes such as the Mediterranean or various destinations around Sweden. In that regard, the travel trends do not differ drastically. Something that, however, seems to be the new trend for this year is more trips by train.
But there are no major changes regarding train travel abroad as far as the statistics are concerned yet.
– About half of all our holiday trips abroad that we take are by air. The train journeys account for less than ten percent, says travel director Per J Andersson.
Higher standard on the night trains
Now ahead of the new year, positive things are happening as the night trains have now been given a new boost. Among other things, it concerns new train lines that run between various cities around Europe and night trains from Stockholm directly to Hamburg.
Now, on the other hand, new night trains are expected to arrive in Sweden – as a higher standard with better beds and increased privacy for the travelers when they want to scrap the six-bed carriages.
Housing changes are growing
With increased electricity prices and higher inflation, the economy suffers. One way to keep costs down is to change homes. But changing homes with others can worry many.
Changing homes with others is easy – as you can exchange directly or through points. The exchanges are made through various sites and are safe to use, says Per J Andersson.
– You often leave your home very clean and come to a home that is clean. You keep track of each other through these sites. It is very safe, he says.
Warmer climate increases tourist flows
Another remaining trend predicted by the EU is vacationing in colder latitudes. With a warmer climate expected in 2024, more and more people are shying away from traveling to countries that are cooler – among other things, trips to the Mediterranean Sea are believed to decrease by approximately ten percent in the next few years.
– The northern countries in Europe will increase with perhaps five percent greater tourist flows, says Per J Andersson and continues:
– This paves the way for us to go to Sweden and Norway ourselves.
