Russia says it is waiting for the US response to

A US journalist accused of spying in Russia by Evan Gershkovich the trial begins in Yekaterinburg today. The Sverdlovsk Regional Court said earlier this month that the trial will be held behind closed doors.

Gershkovich, who worked for the US Wall Street Journal, was imprisoned in March of last year. According to Russian prosecutors, he is accused of working for the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and collecting secret information about a Russian tank manufacturer. According to the United States, the charges are fabricated.
