According to the police, Paludan is suspected of inciting against a group of people in Sweden.
In Sweden, the district court in Malmö is discussing today a case concerning a well-known Danish far-right politician Rasmus Paludania, Swedish media tells.
Sweden has filed two charges against Paludan. Paludan set fire to the Muslim holy book Koran near the Turkish embassy in Malmö in April and September 2022.
Paludan has also set the Koran on fire in Stockholm, but the trial starting today does not concern Paludan’s capture of Stockholm.
According to the police, Paludan was guilty of incitement against a group of people during the demonstrations in Malmö.
Paludan told Dagens Nyheter last year that burning the Koran was not his idea. According to Paludan, he was contacted by the Sweden Democrats’ “communication channel” and was asked to travel to Sweden to express his opinion.
Since last year, Paludan has refused to travel to Sweden. He appeals to his own safety. In the trial that starts on Monday, Paludan will participate remotely.
