The number of summer mountain rescues continues to decrease. Between June 1 and September 30, 114 mountain rescues were carried out, compared to 128 in the same period last year, the police write.
The statistics apply to the entire Swedish mountain range in Norrbotten, Västerbotten, Jämtland and Dalarna counties. Norrbotten is at its peak in summer, when many people are injured during their hikes to Kebnekaise.
The number of mountain rescues does not only decrease during summer, but the trend shows a downward curve also during winter.
It is unclear what the reduction is due to.
