The trauma lives on – but some Israelis have returned to the kibbutzim

The terrorist organization Hamas massacre in Israel on October 7 – when around 1,150 people were killed and more than 200 were taken hostage – and the subsequent Gaza war have left many people deeply wounded and traumatized.

Over a hundred Israeli hostages remain in Gaza, where the war continues unabated and claims more victims with each passing day.

  • WHO from Gaza: “The al-Shifa hospital is in ruins”

  • But despite that, some residents of the kibbutzim near the border are slowly beginning to return to their homes, several months after they were evacuated.

SVT has visited Kibbutz Yad Mordechai in southern Israel, and met volunteer soldiers, a family that has returned and a young mother who is only on a temporary visit to pick up spring and summer clothes for the children.
