Train traffic is running, with some delays, after yesterday’s train chaos.
An electrical fault in Laxå caused it for the trains between Stockholm and Gothenburg.
The power failure on New Year’s Day was caused by ice forming on a contact line. Frustration was great when the wait became long as a result of canceled trains.
On Thursday morning at five o’clock, the Swedish Transport Administration allowed traffic past Laxå, according to SJ’s press service.
– Not all tracks are passable, but there are enough for us to be able to roll, says Leila Fogelholm on SJ’s press call.
During the morning, regional trains between Gävle and Linköping had to be canceled because both trains and staff were in the wrong places after the traffic disruptions.
Travelers who had booked tickets received information about canceled trains during the night and were rebooked, according to the press service.
Although traffic is now moving, there is still a risk of delays.
– There will probably be some delays past Laxå because not all tracks are passable, but it’s rolling and it feels good, says Leila Fogelholm.
