The anime Pokémon has been running since 1997 and tells of the adventures that Ash and Pikachu experience together. However, late last year, the Pokémon Company revealed that the two’s journey was coming to an end. Soon they will say goodbye as main characters from the series and make room for a new generation.
But what does this new generation look like? A new trailer gives us a glimpse of Ash and Pikachu’s first Pokémon season. Four new characters will accompany us in the years to come and carry on the legacy of the legendary anime that has delighted fans around the world for over 25 years.
New Pokémon characters: These are Liko, Roy, Friede and Captain Pikachu
At the heart of the new Pokémon season are liquor and Roy. The spirited Liko possesses a prized pendant that ties her deeply to Pokémon mythology. Her motto: If she doesn’t search herself, she’ll never find anything. Meanwhile, the ambitious Roy comes up with a mysterious Poké Ball and wants to challenge the Pokémon from the legends.

The third major character in the new season is peace, a Pokémon professor eager to learn the world of pocket monsters. He is accompanied Captain Pikachu, who – how could it be otherwise – is characterized by a captain’s hat. With that, a Pikachu made it into the new season. In Germany, the two figures are called Friedel and Flight Captain Pikachu.
When does the new Pokemon season start?
In Japan, the Pokemon sequel starts on April 14, 2023. It is not yet clear when and how the new episodes will find their way to Germany.
