It was unofficial, it is now official, the Tour de France 2024 will arrive in Nice because of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
It wasn’t really a secret anymore, but official confirmation was awaited. This Thursday, December 1, the organization of the Tour de France announced that the arrival of the Grande Boucle would be done well in Nice because of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games which will take place from July 26 to August 11.
After 110 editions concluded in Paris with very often a rather boring stage promised to the sprinters, this Tour de France 2024 will offer a wind of novelty with a time trial on July 21 in Nice. For the most nostalgic, it will be the first time that the Tour has ended on a clock since the outcome of 1989 when the Frenchman Laurent Fignon lost the yellow jersey by eight seconds, the smallest gap in history, against the American Greg Lemond. Currently, the profile and mileage are not determined.
“We are all super happy that the Olympic Games are taking place in France and in Paris. It’s great for everyone, French sport and beyond. But it was completely impossible to finish the Tour in Paris. , the police and gendarmerie forces will have enough work not to add to it. There is a form of evidence, of common sense. The Côte d’Azur will offer us an exceptional setting from an aesthetic point of view, the place best known by foreigners in France after Paris.
