The tough news for Alexander Isak raises concerns for the Swedish national team

Alexander Isak continues to struggle with his injured toe and is in danger of missing Newcastle’s summit clash with Manchester City on Saturday.

The Swedish national team striker Alexander Isak has had some blemishes lately. Already last week, the toe was a problem, as was an eye injury, but Alexander Isak still played in the losing match against Fulham (1–3).

However, the toe injury continues to elude the 25-year-old during the start of the English football season and he is a big question mark ahead of Saturday’s big game in the Premier League against Manchester City, says Newcastle’s coach Eddie Howe.

“Alex is still healing his toe injury. It is doubtful if he can play. He hasn’t trained yet so we have to make a decision about him,” Howe said at a press conference ahead of the City match, reports Newcastle’s Twitter account.

The injury is also worrying news for Sweden’s national team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson. On Wednesday, he will present his squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Slovakia and Estonia.
