For the second night in a row, the hockey legend Börje Salming was celebrated by the Toronto fans. Salming played over 1,000 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs over 16 seasons and achieved almost icon status during his time in Canada.
With him on the ice Saturday night, he had his family before the game between Toronto and the Vancouver Canucks.
Dropped the puck
The tribute ceremony reached its climax when the hockey legend dropped the puck at a ceremonial drawing between William Nylander and Oliver Ekman-Larsson.
– It was very special, you got a little teary-eyed, says Toronto player William Nylander. Glad we could win for him.
Earlier this year, Salming was diagnosed with ALS and his condition is rapidly deteriorating.
