An 18-year-old Frenchman is apparently going to be the next big thing in League of Legends. Reports show that the European champions G2 allegedly wanted to spend 3 regular players and a lot of money to secure the services of ADC Caliste “Caliste” Henry-Hennebert (18). But the French said no and retained probably the greatest talent Europe has to offer in LoL.
This was supposedly the deal: The current most important source for transfer rumors in LoL esports is “Sheep Esports”. They report:
G2 Esports has shown interest in Caliste and Karmine Corp. signaled.
G2 is said to have offered an exorbitantly high transfer fee and also the 3 regular players Martin “Yike” Sundelin, Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle and Steven “Hans Sama” Liv.
But Karmine Corp. was not interested in the deal.
18-year-old mega talent will play in the LEC in 2025
Why is the boy worth so much? The ADC Caliste is only 18 years old and is therefore not allowed to play in the LEC in the current year 2024. Riot has set a minimum age limit of 18 for the league. However, he has a 3-year contract with Karmine Corp. signed and is scheduled to start in the league in 2025.
Caliste is considered one of the biggest League of Legends talents Europe has to offer. He became number 1 in SoloQ in the EU West several times, most recently with a win rate of 63% (via op.gg). He has reached Challenger rank in the last 5 seasons.
His favorite heroes are currently Kalista, Jhin, Kai’Sa, Syndra, Lucian and Ashe.
He also impressed in France’s national league, the LFL, which is considered the best regional league. He had a strong average KDA with 5.7 kills per match and 5.4 assists with only 2 deaths. It was 5.6 and was the fourth strongest in the league.
In values like “gold per minute” he even led the league in the 2024 LFL Spring Split.
At 17 years old, this is seen as an impressive achievement. Normally, young players do not produce such stable top performances that it is enough for high scores in statistics: The number 1 at the KDA in the LFL is the German player Tim “Kduii” Wilders and he is already 24 years old.
Will this be the next star in LoL? G2 certainly seems to think so. However, it is difficult to say whether Caliste’s great numbers in the LFL can also be transferred to the LEC. Whether it will be enough to go one step further, even against the best bot laners in the world from South Korea and China, is another question.
Karmine Corp. appears to have signed the deal. In any case, I also rejected it because it’s not that easy to manage the salaries of three players at that level.
The fact that G2 is willing to trade regular ADC Hans Sama in addition to the two “sorted out players” is a strong sign of trust for Caliste. It was already clear that G2 wanted to separate from the supporter and jungler after the disappointing exit from the 2024 World Cup: Twitch streamer explains the disappointing performance of Europe and G2 in LoL Worlds – turns out to be a prophet
