Fifa and half a dozen other track and field athletes of North African background were given long bans in Spain in the so-called Chamberi investigation, and Fifa was one of them.
Doping ring members
The punished athletes were considered members of a doping ring to have been guilty of importing and distributing doping substances. No information can be found on the nature of the doping substances; especially popular in endurance running are epo hormone preparations that raise blood levels.
In the investigation, according to the website Insidethegamez, the police used coercive measures, e.g. device searches.
Fifa’s background is at least interesting. The promising athletics junior sneaked from Morocco to Spain in 2006, hiding in the undercarriage of a truck. He received the rights to represent his new home country in 2015, and already the following year, he had a blast at the European Championships in Amsterdam.
Excellent competition
Fifa won historically flat 5000 meter race, where the entire top trio of Fifa-Adel Mechaal–Richard Ringer got one hundredth the same deadline. Norwegian Henrik Ingebrigtsen came fourth; he lost to the trio by 0.01 seconds.
The Fifa record for 5000 meters is 13:05.61 and 7:40.55 for 3000 meters. In addition to the European Championships in Amsterdam, he had time to represent Spain before his doping competition ban at the World Championships in Beijing and London in 2015 and 2017 and the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
