Peter Forsberg has always been impossible to take the puck away from.
Especially if not a hockey pro…
Peter Forsberg had many at his disposal as a hockey player. He had enough of a winner’s skull to go as far as he wanted, and also had both the goal-scoring ability and game sense to always be in the right place. The NHL career was completely magical, despite being hampered a lot by injuries.
Good at everything
But perhaps Foppa’s greatest strength was his ability to never lose the puck. He was strong as an ox and could hold off anyone, and was also skilled enough to send anyone into the stands. In his best moments, he was perhaps the best player in the world, and even the best defenders of all time couldn’t do anything to him.
Then understand how difficult it actually was, and is, to stop him if you didn’t play hockey at the absolute top level. In the classic program “In the head of Gunde Svan” the ski legend met Foppa, and then got some proper lessons in hockey playing. The most classic clip is when Foppa pulls a one-handed backhand hard towards the goal, in front of a shocked Gunde.

Total playhouse
But a touch of equally impressive clips came at another point in the program, when both legends are in a hockey hall and laze around a bit. Gunde Svan then tries to take the puck from Forsberg, but no, in truth he was never even close to making a break. Forsberg holds off Svan, who is by no means bad at skating. It’s just that Forsberg, even though he was a bit over 40 at the time, is too good.
It goes so far that Gunde Svan sees no other options than to just shout out his frustration, as every time he thinks he is close to taking the puck, only to be denied again. This is a really good example of what an incredible magician Peter Forsberg was with the puck. What an incredible legend!
