The government is considering a series of tax cuts for the budget negotiations this autumn.
This is evident from the tax proposals that the Ministry of Finance sent for comments today ahead of the 2025 state budget.
– It’s the Moderates’ parade branch, lowered taxes, says TV4’s political commentator Ulf Kristofferson.
This concerns, among other things, reduced tax on salary and pension.
One of the proposals is an extended employment tax deduction that would lead to an average of SEK 1,900 less tax each year for those covered by the proposal. But it looks different depending on how much money comes in each month.
– For someone with a monthly salary of SEK 25,000 a month, this means SEK 75 more in the wallet per month. For those who earn SEK 42,000 or more a month, it would give a tax relief of approximately SEK 200 a month, TV4’s political commentator Ulf Kristofferson.

Disagreement about flight tax
Those with pension or work income are also proposed to receive SEK 1,100 in lower tax per year on average through a basic deduction for a total of SEK 1.8 billion.
In total, they want to invest around SEK 10 billion in tax cuts.
According to Ulf Kristofferson, the Tidö parties are expected to agree on the proposals for salary and pension. It will be all the more difficult to find a common solution for the flight tax. There, a halving of the tax amount that would otherwise have been set aside next year is proposed.
– It would cause even greater problems for Climate and Environment Minister Romina Pourmokhtari to meet the environmental goals. She already has huge problems with that, and the Liberals will fight against that proposal when the Tidö parties agree at the end of the summer on what should be included in the autumn budget, says Ulf Kristofferson.
“Huge expenses ahead”
The big investments in tax cuts are also expected to be met with stiff opposition from the opposition, says Ulf Kristofferson.
– At the same time as they now want to make tax cuts, there is a very big need to upgrade roads and railways. Also to invest money in care and school and not least to strengthen the Swedish defense, he says.
– There are huge expenses that lie ahead.
