The three balls that flew over North America were probably harmless, says the White House

The US accuses China of spying with a balloon

“The intelligence community’s leading explanation is that the balls could have had purely commercial or harmless purposes,” says an expert from the US National Security Council.

US intelligence officials have said that the three balls that went down over the country may well have been flying over North America for harmless reasons.

– The intelligence community’s leading explanation is that the balls could have had purely commercial or harmless purposes, an expert from the US National Security Council John Kirby commented on Tuesday.

According to Kirby, there is currently no indication that the balls are connected to the espionage programs of China or any other state. The White House has wanted to make a nest separation between the Chinese observation ball that was shut down earlier this month and three other balls that were shut down.

“We don’t have any evidence at this time to confirm that it was intelligence by another government,” Kirby said.

Difficult weather conditions make it difficult to examine the remains of the balls

The remains of the downed balls await more and more detailed investigations. Kirby says the United States is continuing efforts to find the orbs for research.

– If we could get hold of these remains and the researchers could examine them, it would certainly be very valuable, so that we could identify for sure what these objects are and what their purpose was.

According to Kirby, finding the remains is hampered by the “rather difficult weather conditions” of the ball landing sites.

– […] Not to mention the pretty difficult geographical conditions and difficult time of year, Kirby said.
