The Alien films are among the best that science fiction has to offer. The quality of the individual works is hotly debated among fans. As the third part, Alien³ has a difficult time: The film slipped sharply past a cinema flop (via The Numbers ), was panned by many critics (via Metacritic ) and disappointed large parts of the community. It’s on TV today. It was the first feature film by master director David Fincher (Seven), who abhors the film to this day.

In the third part of the Alien series, protagonist Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) lands after the events of Aliens – The Return on a dark prison planet. In addition to brutal inmates, a familiar enemy will soon be one of their opponents.

As Fincher reported to the Guardian in 2009, the shoot was a mess. Fincher didn’t have the experience, the studio didn’t seem to care and the scripts were finished far too late. He explains:

I worked on it for two years, got fired three times and had to fight for every little thing. nobody hated [den Film] more than me. To this day, no one hates him more than I do.

In his own words, Fincher saw the film after the theatrical release never watched again. In fan circles, the rating of Alien 3 changed in the last 31 years after publication by some fans (via Vox ).

Alien 3 is running this Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 10:00 p.m. on Nitro. In addition to Sigourney Weaver, Forest Whitaker (Ghost Dog) and Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) can be seen in front of the camera, among others.
