The man who was arrested on suspicion of terrorist offenses is 18 years old and known to the police from before, according to documents that Aftonbladet has seen in collaboration with Expo.
Among other things, he has previously been convicted of kidnapping and attempted robbery.
Now he is released at large.
The man, who was detained for terrorist crimes in Sweden, was released on Friday.
Prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist tells TT that the suspicion remains, but that it has weakened and that the investigation continues.
Exactly what the man is suspected of is not known, but according to the prosecutor, the crime was committed in August earlier this year.
On Wednesday, he was arrested by the Security Police, who are also conducting the preliminary investigation.
– It is very early in the investigation. I may refer to the public prosecutor’s office for further information. But there is no danger to the public linked to this, says Fredrik Hultgren Friberg, press spokesperson at Säpo.
The man’s lawyer Robin Grönvall says that it was a “real decision by the prosecutor” to release him.
– He denies crime. If I may say what I think, I think this will be shut down, he says.
Aftonbladet, in collaboration with Expo, has obtained documents which show that the suspect is an 18-year-old man who was known to the police in the past.
In his early teens, he was taken into care under the Act on Care of Young People and placed in a Sis home after showing “socially disruptive behaviour”.
He has previously been convicted of kidnapping after together with two other people abducted and locked a man in a car with the aim of extorting money from him. He was then sentenced to youth care and to pay just over SEK 9,000 in damages.
