The police in Minneapolis in the United States have arrested a ten-year-old boy after he stole a car and recklessly drove into a playground full of playing children. He came close to running over people but no one was hurt.
The incident occurred on September 20, 2024 at a school in north Minneapolis, and now the police are releasing a surveillance video that shows the ten-year-old’s rampage. The video shows him riding at full speed across the lawn and onto the sidewalk while children and school staff try to move.
Been in trouble before
It is not the first time the boy has been accused of stealing a car, writes Fox 9. On at least two other occasions, he has been arrested for incidents that can be linked to car thefts. The boy is also suspected in several other cases such as car theft, assault with a dangerous weapon and robbery.
US police say the family is cooperating with law enforcement and has asked for help in detaining their son to prevent injury or death.
– It is unimaginable that a ten-year-old boy has been involved in this level of criminal activity, says Police Chief Brian O’Hara.
