The team captain for IBK Lund after the bus accident: “There was a lot of blood”

The team was on its way to a match in Stockholm on Saturday when the bus they were traveling in suddenly left the road and landed on its side. Several of the guys flew out the windows.

Team captain Kalle Nilsson, who himself was not seriously injured, quickly ran out into the snow in only socks and tried to help as best he could.

– You were struck by the fact that there was a lot of blood. Many had cuts, he says.

Two remain in hospital

Hear the team captain of IBK Lund’s men’s team talk about his experience in the clip above.

He himself managed with cuts on his right hand, some bruises and swelling. But he is taken after the accident and worried about his teammates.

Two people are still being treated in hospital. One is expected to be discharged soon and one has a little more damage, but the situation is said to be stable.

The team captain: “Didn’t have a belt”

The team was halfway through the season and was due to play this Saturday again. It probably won’t be like that.

– The majority of the team has some kind of injury. We’re not thinking about floorball right now, so we’ll see what happens with the rest of the season, says Kalle Nilsson.

He himself admits that he did not wear a seat belt during the bus journey, but that he cannot speak for the others.

– It is clear that you regret it. But what’s done is done.

The bus company’s owner: “Can’t handle the weather”

The bus that the team traveled in was a double-decker that was inspected last year without a complaint. It had recently been cancelled, but according to the bus company’s owner, this is because it was low season and it is a way to save money.

The bus driver is OK under the circumstances.

– We will of course conduct an internal investigation, but we cannot depend on weather and road conditions, he tells SVT Nyheter Skåne and continues:

– It must have been lightning.

A police investigation has been launched but there is no suspicion that any crime has been committed.
