The taxi driver who drove the three Swedish citizens at the terrorist attack in Brussels has now allowed himself to be interviewed about the course of events on the evening of October 16 – when two of the Swedes were killed and the third was seriously injured.

The television company RTL have now spoken to the taxi driver who has chosen to remain anonymous. He says he remembers how one of the taxi’s windows was smashed to the sound of loud bangs.

“There were lots of thoughts running through my head”

The taxi driver says that he thought that maybe someone had thrown stones or other things at his car. Then he saw the man on the moped and understood that they were being shot at.

– At that point I hid in the car. I picked up my phone. I was shocked. There were lots of thoughts running through my head. The family, will I die, what happened, what am I doing… lots of things, he says in the interview.

He also says that the car ride together with the Swedish citizens was pleasant before the crime took place.

– The ten minutes we spent together were wonderful. Since I know a little Swedish, I talked to my customers and they were happy when I said two or three words in Swedish, says the taxi driver.

– The rest of the trip we spoke in English, and I remember that they were happy to go to the match. Unfortunately, they never reached their destination. It touches me deeply.

Several people have been detained after the terrorist act. Spanish police have arrested a man suspected of having links to the crime. Two men in Paris were detained and accused of having links to Brussels terrorist Abdesalem Lassoued, who was shot dead by Belgian police after the terror attack.
