Mullah, the top leader of the Taliban movement in Afghanistan Haibatullah Akhundzada has ordered women to wear burkha outfits covering their bodies and faces in public places.

The command is justified by respect for traditions and the avoidance of “provocation” when confronting adult men outside the family.

The Taliban rose to power in August last year as a U.S.-led alliance withdrew from Afghanistan. Although the leadership of the movement talked about respecting women’s rights, secondary schools, for example, have been closed to girls.
