The swimming area in Furuvik closed – here divers examine the leaning diving towers

Something causes the concrete foundations, which have held the jumping towers in place since the opening in 1955, to move.

During Monday, divers were on site with a remotely controlled underwater vehicle to get a better picture of the damage situation.

Troubled economy

Harnäs-Skutskär’s swimming club, which runs the bathing area, is trembling for a financial blow. The savings have recently been used for a new outdoor gym, so now help is needed if the jumping towers become an expensive story.

Gävle municipality was invited on Monday, but no representative showed up.

– I wanted to inform and prepare them that there will be a grant application, says Leif Bergström.
