Many cars with dangerous exhaust gases pass the inspection, according to the Inspection Branch. The Swedish Transport Agency admits that today’s car inspection misses many cars with faults in the exhaust gas treatment. The authority responsible for the inspection regulations has recently investigated a number of proposals for tightening and possible measures.

Among other things, there are other methods for measuring particles that are already used in Belgium and the Netherlands, which according to environmental scientists at IVL would reduce particles in exhaust gases by 30-60 percent.
