The Swedish Transport Administration warns of snowdrifts national emergency

“I can only remember two times recently,” says the Swedish Transport Agency’s press manager Bengt Olsson and continues:

— It was when the Ukraine war started and when the pandemic started at its worst, that we went up there to be able to control the resources we had to be able to conduct business.

Before that?

— Then you have to go back to between 2010 and 2012, when we had rather tough weather conditions in the winter. But that was a long time ago, notes Bengt Olsson.

What does it mean concretely that you move up to national staff position?

— This means that you start a national organization to be able to have a picture of what is happening everywhere and where the resources are most needed right now. So that you can prioritize faster, and do it in parallel with the regular organization – to run train traffic, for example. Or be out plowing and fighting skids elsewhere in the country.

— Right now, it is such a very large area that is affected and risks being affected properly here during Monday and until Tuesday.
