The Swedish Transport Administration warns of “Russian roulette” on the Easter roads

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

It is as planned for patches of ice on the roads tomorrow. Then driving with summer tires is Russian roulette, says Trafikverket’s press manager Bengt Olsson. – It’s the absolute worst thing you can do when you’re going up to a mountain resort, if that’s where you’re going. On Maundy Thursday, the big Easter walk begins, which many Swedes go on as soon as their work schedule allows them. – There are a lot of people who are looking out at the same time on a few roads. Around 11-12 it thickens on many roads and then it will continue in the afternoon, says Bengt Olsson at the Swedish Transport Agency. Warning for patches of ice It has been unusually cold in April and snow in large parts of the country. It is expected to be cold nights over the Easter weekend as well. – What you can definitely say is that it will be changeable, it is colder than usual at night, early mornings and late evenings. This means that there will be patches of ice in quite a few places, says TV4 Nyhetern’s meteorologist Peter Kondrup. Finally a chance for sunshine Already on Good Friday, the temperatures climb upwards, mostly with pauses. In Värmland and Norrland’s interior, sun is expected even then – but there are good chances of sunshine across the country during the weekend and Monday. The southern parts of the country, especially the western parts, will see double-digit daytime temperatures all weekend. See the Swedish Transport Administration’s press manager in the player above.
