The Swedish Transport Administration is rebuilding – the roads you

Major road works often lead to long queues, which is hardly what you want to spend your precious holiday hours doing.

Keeping track of where the summer’s biggest road works will take place, so that you can avoid them, can therefore be smart.

Fortunately, the Swedish Transport Administration has now shared that information.

Should reduce the risk of acute errors

The primary reason for this summer’s road works is to increase accessibility by preventing and reducing the risk of acute failures.

The road works will include, among other things, maintenance of bridges and tunnels, paving works and new constructions.

In connection with road works, there are often a number of accidents each year, and the Swedish Transport Administration therefore wants to urge motorists to be careful when driving through an area where work is in progress.

The Swedish Transport Administration is forced to prioritize

Maintenance is particularly important according to Annika Canakihead of department for road maintenance at the Swedish Transport Administration.

– Too little has been invested in road maintenance and we have been forced to make tough priorities between different measures and roads, she says.

The Swedish Transport Administration also advises that you can see all ongoing and planned road works on the authority’s website.

The biggest road works of the summer take place here

One of the biggest roads where a lot of maintenance will be carried out during the summer is E22 through Kalmar county, Blekinge and Skåne. There, among other things, a bridge in Kristianstad will be replaced and other maintenance work carried out.

On the E4.an, paving work will be carried out at several locations on the section between Helsingborg and Haparanda. The works will, among other things, be carried out between Klevshult and Gränna, between Enåner and the border with Stockholm County, between Jävre and Haparanda, as well as in connection with the Sundsvalls Bridge, where the bridge railings are also being replaced.

Paving work will also be carried out on certain stretches of E6 through Halland, on E18 around Karlstad, and on national road 40 between Grönkullenmotet and Nabbamotet and between Landvettermotet-Ryamotet.

During the summer, the E6 at Stenungsund, which was destroyed in a landslide, will reopen. Until then, E45 is recommended as an alternative route.

Road traffic on road 73 at the Trångsund interchange will be affected by work on a railway bridge, which may be relevant if you are heading towards Nynäshamn and the ferry to Gotland.
