The Swedish Transport Administration about the stop on Ölandsbron: The plow trucks also remained standing

It was after an accident occurred on Öland’s bridge that traffic came to a standstill for three hours.

– We had been out during the night and skid prevention before the snowfall, then they were out plowing the E 22. This happened before they got to Öland’s bridge with the plow resource, says Susanne Östangård, project manager at the Swedish Transport Administration.

The April snow and the traffic chaos in southern Sweden

Motorists were also unprepared for winter to strike again and many had switched to summer tyres.

– Those who drove on the Ölandsbron were not prepared for the fact that there would be winter road conditions today. There wasn’t much snow, but it was slippery on Öland’s bridge, says Susanne Östangård.
