The Swedish Tax Agency’s call to everyone with children – you should do that

The Swedish Tax Agencys call to everyone with children

The primary responsibility of the state agency Skatteverket is to collect taxes, manage population records and act as a creditor for the state, among other things. In their work, they occasionally issue information, calls and even warnings to the public.

The Swedish Tax Agency sends letters – that’s the reason

Recently, for example, they went on their website and informed the Swedes that 150,000 letters had been sent out since June. The reason? They want to access individuals who sign up at addresses that are already inhabited, as this may be a civil registration offence.

They also went out and called on the Swedes who have not yet received their final tax notice for the income year 2024 to pay their back tax, if they have any to pay, by March 12, 2025 at the latest. These letters will end up in mailboxes on December 6, according to the authority’s calculations.

The Swedish Tax Agency warns of new frauds

But among information flows and calls, it sometimes happens that the Swedish Tax Agency also issues direct warnings.

It happened earlier in October when the public was urged to be aware of new scams, which have again picked up speed.

There are a lot of fraudsters who pretend to represent the authority in the hope of gaining your trust and, by extension, private and sensitive information that can enable them to access your money.

“It happens that fraudsters pretend to be the Swedish Tax Agency and try to access your data through phishing and phishing. Fraudsters use fake emails, text messages, letters and phone calls in various variations. Attempts at online fraud are particularly common when it is time to declare or when the tax refund is paid out,” they wrote at the time.

The Swedish Tax Agency invites you as a parent

Now the authority has once again gone out on its information channels to highlight an important detail that affects all parents.

This is because when your child turns three, the civil registration address needs to be correct, for both you and your child. The reason has to do with the fact that once the first summons to the dentist hits the mailbox, there is otherwise the risk that you will not receive information about it, and thus not be able to choose a dental clinic.

“Do you have a child who turns three next year? We remind you that you as the guardian may have to choose a dental clinic before the child’s first visit. In order for the invitation to the first visit to arrive, it is important that both you and the child are registered at the correct address,” writes the authority on its Facebook page.

At the Swedish Tax Agency homepage they explain in detail what you as a guardian must do and in which steps it must take place.

“The registration for children must be made by the child’s guardian. When you report a move in the service, the other guardian is given the opportunity to quickly and easily consent to the child’s move in the Leave consent service. If you report a move on a form and the other custodian has not signed, the Tax Agency instead sends a question by post to the other custodian.
