After a revelation about Elias Pettersson, Canucks fans are enjoying themselves.

Many had expected that the Swedes would be chosen early in this year’s draft. But that as many as four – of which three top 20 – would be chosen came as a bit of a surprise.

First of all Swedes, Jonathan Lekkerimäki was elected by the Vancouver Canucks. And it is a connection between the players that is clear. After the draft, it emerged that Lekkerimäki has Elias Pettersson as his favorite player, and that during the winter, during the Hlinka Gretzky Cup, he even played in jersey number 40, then to have Elias as his favorite player.

The Vancouver journalists were quick to pick out the connection, and that only leads to even more of the hype surrounding the player in the city. And Lekkerimäki is now looking forward to hopefully playing with his idol.
– It is unbelievable. I can not describe it, he says.
Lekkerimäki looked in advance to go top ten in the draft, but fell down, just like many other favorites – in the most unpredictable draft in many, many years. In addition to Lekkerimäki, two more Djurgårds players were selected in the first round.
