Emma Ribom appeared in an odd outfit to say the least during training.
Now she explains why.
– I save the Swedish outfit for training, she says.
The ski season is fast approaching. In just over a month it will be time for the World Cup premiere in Ruka, and in just a week or so all the national races will begin, in Bruksvallarna above all. This summer has been different for the Swedish national ski team, as Frida Karlsson, Maja Dahlqvist and Linn Svahn have all left the training group.
Appeared in Norwegian clothes
One who has been highly praised by coaches and skaters is instead Emma Ribom. Ribom has, among other things, gone to his own camp with sprint star Jonna Sundling, and is expected to take a big step forward during the winter. But during a training session this week, Ribom was noticed for a completely different reason than how fast she was on the track.
Fredrik Andersson, skier and sibling of superstar Ebba Andersson, posted a picture from a training session with Ribom this week – and many were surprised by her choice of clothing. During training, she rode around in a Norwegian outfit. Now she explains why.
– We changed costumes at the Olympics, it’s a tradition to do that, then I got a Norwegian competition costume, but I’ve trained with it before, there have been some comments, but I don’t attach any importance to it, says Ribom to SVT.

“Saving it for competition”
Emma Ribom sees no problem with her showing possible Norwegian sponsors during her training sessions, and also makes fun of it.
– I save the Swedish outfit for competition, the other I wear when I train, she says.
Nor does Anders Byström, national team manager, see any problems with Ribom wearing the Norwegian uniform. When the skaters are not in the context of the national team, they can wear whatever clothes they want, as long as they are not pure competitors against the national team’s sponsors.
– I think they changed clothes during the Olympics last year, as you do at championships, it was probably just a fun thing, she wasn’t on national team duty then (when the picture was taken), they can wear the clothes they have at home, it can we do not rule over. It’s not a big deal, but now a national team camp starts and then of course they won’t be allowed to ride in any clothes other than ours, he says.
